Basket Cases Food Drive June 28th, 2020

From Illinois Partners in Hope:

"Every once in a while life reminds you there are generous people out there. This past Sunday, June 28th we had the pleasure to participate in a food drive hosted by Basket Cases Disc Golf Club at Sergeant Means Park in Olympia Fields. For their weekly event, club members had the option to bring 3 canned goods in lieu of the typical fee to play. The members went above and beyond. Many of the guys brought bags and some brought boxes full of food. All together they collected 120 pounds of food. Not bad right? They also collected $486 cash! A lot of the guys overpaid to play seeing the money was going to directly to Illinois Partners In Hope Food Bank NFP.

Let me break this down for you.....we applied your $486 to a truckload of milk and eggs totaling 34,400 pounds. It covered about half of the logistics cost. So you played disc golf you say? I say you guys helped us procure and distribute 17,200 pounds of food. Not too bad for a Sunday morning enjoying your favorite pastime. Let that sink in guys. Seriously, that was well over 17,000 meals your organization covered.

The 120 pounds of food picked up Sunday went directly to Alicia’s House in South Chicago Heights. They said to tell you guys thanks!

Many thanks to Garry Bacon Murphy, Shaun Ely and Joe the worst Duncan of Basket Cases for putting this all together. Thanks for thinking of us!!! "
